WestJet and Air Canada are advising airline travellers to check flights because the fog may cause some delays or cancellations.
The Vancouver International Airport has listed some cancelled flights this morning from YVR to Victoria, Castlegar, Nanaimo and Prince George.
A statement posted on the YVR website says passengers may experience delays throughout the province. Travellers can check theirflight status here.
Air Canada spokeswoman Angela Mah said operations at YVR are normal but alerts have been issued for Nanaimo and Prince George due to thick fog in those cities.
Flights leaving the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre are also delayed until further notice. Staff at Saltspring Air said the Gulf Islands were socked in and pilots are waiting until the fog clears to resume flights, possibly by late afternoon or early evening.
Harbour Air has also posted a travel advisory on its website, saying that due to low visibility regular flight operations may be affected departing from and arriving to Vancouver harbour.
