Half the homes in the city's Buchanan Gardens have been snapped up already

NEARLY half the homes in a new city centre development have been snapped up in just 10 days, months before the building work is completed.

A total of 24 flats in the 49-home Buchanan Gardens development in the centre of Glasgow have been reserved by house buyers.
The show homes do not open until Monday, but eager would-be buyers who joined the development's Club Q were given access two weeks prior to the development going public.
Prices start at £149,995 for a one-bed flat, while the most expensive, three bedrooms properties cost from £295,000 upwards.
The Evening Times was given an exclusive viewing of the site, including its roof garden, which is part of the £70million Buchanan Quarter development.
As we have previously reported, the homes attracted "unprecedented" interest from across the globe, with people making enquiries from as far afield as India, China and Canada.
So far more than 1300 people, including some famous Scots, have registered an interest in buying properties.
On July 12, the day before the pre-launch, more than 40 people queued outside the marketing offices in Bath Street overnight.
One man was so set on securing his dream home that he was in line at 7pm – 16 hours before the doors opened for business.
The first residents are expected to move in this winter.
Jan Eldridge, sales and marketing manager for the developer, Land Securities, said: "I've been in this business for more than 30 years and I've seen it go through ups and downs.
"And it really has been a very long time since I've seen such a popular development.
"We have had customers reserve 24 properties in the space of 10 days. The anticipation from people has been unprecedented,
"It's very exciting for us and we are very pleased."
Ms Eldridge said she believed the flats were so popular because of their location – atop the Buchanan Quarter retail development – as well as the build quality.
AND she explained: "We had queues of people waiting overnight to see the flats before we opened."
"For Land Securities it's always about location and I think you can't get a better location to live in than these apartments.
"It is close to nightlife, to shops and restaurants and to business.
"But there's also the Sky Garden, which is peaceful and will help create a community for the residents."
Ms Eldridge also said that the development was important for Glasgow.
She said: "The regeneration that has gone on in this part of the city has transformed the area.
"I think anyone would agree that it needed a bit of a facelift.
"I think it's a very important development to the city, as much as it is for Land Securities."
During the tour we were shown the roof garden, a large green space which will eventually feature an apple orchard, a central mulberry tree and bird boxes.
The two showhomes, which each have two bedrooms, have been designed by John Lewis and Bo Concept.
They are immaculate and bosses said the designs represented the standard throughout every property.
One of the key features of the homes is storage space, which is unusual to find in city centre flats.
Calum Miller, of Savills, which is marketing the flats, said: "The quality is extremely high on every single one of the apartments.
"I don't think there is anywhere like this in Glasgow of this quality.
"They have been designed to have storage and each flat will have a personal locker in the communal area for other items."
Demolition began at the site in February 2011 and the shop units in the development, which include fashion stores Forever 21 and Gap, opened in March this year.
Most of the properties have terraces and balconies, while a communal gym is also available to residents.
Mr Miller added: "I think it is an accessible development for people of all ages, including first time buyers.
"We've seen all kinds of different people. On the first day there were more than 100 sets of people here to view them.
"We're expecting a surge of people when it opens to the public."
